7.4.4. Check of a starter at the stand

Working capacity check
If there are doubts in overall performance of a starter, it is necessary to check it at the stand. The stand has to have a nest for installation of a starter with the plug for the forward end of a shaft of the drive.

The electric circuit of connections for check of a starter at the stand is shown in fig. 7.16. Connecting wires to a current source, the ampermeter and a contact bolt of the traction relay of a starter have to have section not less than 16 mm2.
Starter temperature when checking has to be (25±5) °C, and brushes — are ground well in to a collector.
Closing the switch 5, at a tension of a source of current 12 include a starter with different conditions of braking Three times. For example, at the brake moments of 3, 6 and 12 N · m (0,3; 0,6 and 1,2 kgfs · м). Duration of each inclusion of a starter has to be no more than 5 with, and intervals between inclusions not less than 5 pages.
If the starter does not rotate a gear wreath of the stand or its work is followed by abnormal noise, then sort a starter and check its details.
Test in the mode of full braking
Slow down a gear wreath of the stand, include a starter and measure current, tension and the brake moment which have to be respectively no more than 700 And, not less than 5 V and not less than 13,72 N · m (1,4 kgfs · м). Duration of inclusion of a starter has to be no more than 5 pages.
If the brake moment is lower, and current is higher than the specified sizes, then mezhvitkovy short circuit in a winding of an anchor or short circuit of a winding on "weight" can be the cause of it.
If the brake moment and the consumed current is lower than the specified sizes, then oxidation and pollution of a collector, strong wear of brushes, lag of brushes in brush holders, weakening of fastening of conclusions of brushes, oxidation or a podgoraniye of contact bolts of the traction relay can be the cause.
At full braking the shaft of the drive of a starter should not be turned; if it occurs, then the coupling of a free wheeling is faulty.
For elimination of malfunctions sort a starter and replace or repair the damaged details.
Test in the idling mode
Bring a gear wreath of the stand out of gearing with a starter gear wheel. Include a starter and measure the current consumed by it and frequency of rotation of a shaft of the drive of a starter which have to be respectively no more than 80 And yes 3000 min.-1 at a tension on plugs of a starter of 11,5-12 Century.
If the current and frequency of rotation of a shaft of the drive differ from the specified values, then the reasons can be the same, as in the previous test.

Establish laying 11,5 mm thick between a restrictive ring of 24 (fig. 7.17) and a gear wheel and turn on the relay. Tension of turning on of the relay at a gear wheel emphasis in laying has to be no more than 8 V at ambient temperature (20 ±5) °C. If tension is more, then it indicates malfunction of the relay or drive.
