1.3.6. Care of a body

The body is Basic and most expensive Element of the car. It is made of modern materials and protected from corrosion by high-quality protective equipment. The foundation of durability of corrosion protection is laid by manufacturer, however its efficiency and validity period depend on the correct leaving, climatic conditions, ecological state of environment and storage conditions.
That there were no scratches on a paint and varnish covering of a body, do not delete dust and dirt with dry cleaning material. It is better to wash the car before dirt drying with a stream of water of a small pressure with use of a soft sponge. Wash the car in the open air in a shadow in the summer. If it is impossible, then at once rub off the washed-up surfaces dry as when drying drops of water in the sun on the painted surface spots are formed. In the winter after a wash of the car in the warm room before departure wipe a body and a sealant of doors dry as when freezing of the remained drops cracks on a paint and varnish covering and freezing of sealants to a body can be formed. It is not recommended to apply soda and alkaline solutions, and also sewage that the covering did not grow dull to a wash of the car.

Before a wash of the car clean drainage openings of doors and thresholds (fig. 1.9). At a wash of the car avoid hit of a direct stream of water on electric equipment products, electronic devices, sensors and demountable connections in a motor compartment. You watch a condition of protective covers of demountable connections of electronic blocks and sensors. At moisture hit blow demountable connections compressed air and process water-repellent automedicine for protection of contacts against oxidation.
During a sink carefully wash out zaflantsovka of doors, a cowl, a trunk lid, welded seams and connections of a motor compartment, a luggage carrier and apertures of doors as the collected dirt in the specified places will lead to destruction of a protective and decorative covering and to metal corrosion.
At detection of signs of corrosion (corrosion raids, local swellings of paint, etc.) smooth out the damaged place a small emery cloth to pure metal, process automeans for cold phosphate coating Fosfakor or other similar means, cover with soil and paint over enamel from the enclosed jar.
Chips and scratches on a paint and varnish covering, mastic chips on arches of wheels and on the bottom are connected with mechanical influence of operational character. Corrosion traces on welding connections and joints of details of a body have superficial character and in an initial stage can be removed with polishing pastes. If measures for elimination of defects of a protective and decorative covering of operational character are not in due time taken, then it will lead to development of corrosion under a coat layer, to its peeling and a vspuchivaniye.
For increase in corrosion resistance of a body in the closed box-shaped cavities of thresholds, longerons, cross-pieces and other elements of the basis of a body the special anticorrosive structure is put. At operation of the car we recommend to carry out restoration of a sheeting of the hidden cavities of a body at the enterprises of maintenance within the first year of operation and periodically time in 1,5–2 years.
In use the car the covering on the bottom of a body is affected by gravel, sand, salt. As a result of this influence mastic and soil are erased, the bared metal rusts. Therefore regularly you watch a condition of a covering of the bottom and in due time restore the damaged sites.
For preservation of gloss of the painted surfaces of the car (especially at the cars which are stored in the open air) regularly polish them with use of polishing pastes. These pastes close the microcracks and a time which arose in use in a paint and varnish covering that interferes with emergence of corrosion under a paint coat.
That the body surface a long time kept gloss, do not leave the car long time for the sun, and also do not allow hit of acids, solutions of soda, brake fluid and gasoline on a body surface.
That there were no spots on a paint and varnish covering under the hatch of the fuel tank at gasoline hit, wipe a surface with pure rags before gas station and after it.
Wipe details from plastic with damp rags. It is not recommended to apply gasoline or solvents, otherwise plastic details will lose gloss.
Delete dust from upholsteries of pillows and seats with the vacuum cleaner. On an upholstery apply universal cleaners of an interior or neutral soap with water to removal of fat spots. At the same time carefully wipe with damp rags rubber a sealant and the surfaces of doors adjoining to them and a trunk lid.
Purify glasses soft linen rags or suede. Previously wash up very dirty glasses water with addition of stekloomyvayushchy liquid (30 cm3 on 1 l of water).
Due to the adverse ecological situation in some areas have cases of aggressive impact of separate components of the environment on protective and decorative coverings of the car. These influences are shown in the form of red rash, local change of color of an external paint and varnish covering, local destruction of an enamel covering of a body.
Sedimentation on horizontal surfaces of a body of the smallest particles of the metal dust weighed in air which is pasted to a body by corrosion products during moistening by dew is the reason of emergence of red rash. Red rash can be removed with 5% solution of oxalic acid with the subsequent plentiful washing with clear water then the body needs to be polished. Without special measures she gradually leaves the subsequent sinks or rains.
Local changes of color (spot) of an external paint and varnish covering and local destructions of an enamel covering of a body are a consequence of impact of acid industrial emissions after their connection with air moisture. Such influences depending on severity are eliminated with polishing or repaint of a body.
